Carrie Underwood is not one to stay away from the scene for too long and after a short break, she’s ready to make a comeback. The songstress announced her upcoming studio album, while she also premiered the lead single, titled “Smoke Break”.
Co-penned by Carrie Underwood herself in collaboration with regular collaborators Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano, the Jay Joyce-produced “Smoke Break” finds the songstress delivering her casual upbeat country-rock gem with a twist. Having described it as an “anthem for every hard-working person”, she sings about the occasional drink or cigarette break we all need to take in order to relax a bit. The guitars and drums go hard on this one, while the vocals are delivered with a great kind of attitude throughout.
“Smoke Break” serves as the lead single to be lifted from the songstress’ forthcoming, fifth studio album, titled Storyteller. Carrie Underwood is expected to release the record this coming fall, on October 23, and it will be a follow-up to 2012’s Blown Away, unless you count last year’s Greatest Hits: Decade #1. A music video is already scheduled to premiere on Entertainment Tonight on Monday. For the time being, take a listen to the track below and go grab it here.
