Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Has A New Boss

Anyone who has tried to figure out who the boss of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is will know that the answer is a little complicated.  Kevin Feige is the president of Marvel Studios, but he — and anyone who writes, directs, or crews one of their films — has always had to report to Isaac Perlmutter.  Perlmutter is infamous for being a control freak, and he has put the brakes on more than one project because it didn’t meet his exacting specifications.

According to reports, Feige is no longer beholden to Perlmutter’s whims.  He now reports directly to the head of Disney Studios, Alan Horn.  This move will cement the Marvel brand within Disney, as well as provide greater freedoms to Feige moving forward.

What will this move mean for your favorite superheroes?  Contract negotiations have the chance to go more smoothly, leading to more first-choice actors, directors, and writers taking part.  It also opens the door for more and better marketing — including, perhaps, merchandise of their female characters — as every choice will not be treated as a box-ticking exercise before going on sale.  In all, Marvel Studios should run more efficiently in the future, leading to better experiences for audiences.
