The Weinstein Company has let loose the official US trailer for the latest take on Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Academy Award Nominee Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse, 12 Years a Slave) plays the title role with Academy Award winner Marion Cotilliard (La Vie en Rose, The Dark Knight Rises) as Lady Macbeth. The film is directed by Justin Kurzel. The scuttlebutt is that these three will also be teaming up for the Assassin’s Creed film, set to be released by 20th Century Fox in December of 2016.
The trailer for Kurzel’s version of Macbeth shows a dark tale indeed, and the “Hail Macbeth” chant in the background lends a violent undertone, which this tragedy certainly warrants.
The film will be released in the UK first, on October 7. Those in the United States have to wait until December 4. Until then, we can feast on the trailer.
