Avril Lavigne Announces Split From Husband Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne took to Instagram last night to announce that she had Nickelback frontman are calling it quits on their marriage.  The split seems amicable enough, as she included a picture of them smiling happily on their wedding day with the announcement.

 

It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.

The separation isn’t entirely unexpected, as rumours have hounded the couple throughout their marriage.  A year ago — and only one year into their marriage — reports swirled that they were already divorcing. A couple of weeks before the split was announced yesterday,  Kroeger was seen partying in Miami with a woman who was decidedly not his wife.

This was the second marriage for Lavigne.  She was married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. Coincidentally, Whibley remarried this week.
