Who Will Be Performing The Next James Bond Theme Song?

In the morning, the answer to the most anticipated question will finally be answered – who the heck is performing the next James Bond theme song?

In the morning, the answer to the most anticipated question will finally be answered – who the heck is performing the next James Bond theme song, for Spectre? There has been much speculation, but there is no definitive answer…yet. Here are our predictions for the musician who will be taking on the world’s most beloved spy film franchise.

Sam Smith
Considering only a few hours ago, he tweeted a picture of his hand wearing a ring with a eerily similar symbol to the Spectre organization, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see Sam Smith as the performer selected to do it. It seems like it will be him, and, like Adele (who performed “Skyfall” in 2012), Smith is a popular talent with a great voice that will translate well to the James Bond canon of themes. Expect him to be announced tomorrow morning as the person with the gig…or maybe he’s just teasing us?

Ellie Goulding
While I am personally not her biggest fan, Goulding is definitely very popular and has a unique voice. She also scored big this year with her song “Love Me Like You Do” from Fifty Shades of Grey. Goulding has been rumored to have the gig for a while, and was spotted leaving the London recording studio where the James Bond themes have been recorded in the past.

Radiohead
They would be a very odd choice, but rock legends Radiohead recently came into the discussion when they were removed from betting polls after a large number of bets went toward them performing the theme. They are certainly a left-field choice, but their brilliant sound and their status will fit well into the Bond universe and bring us a rockin’ theme that will certainly be iconic and different from previous themes.

Lana Del Rey
Now we enter the purely speculative and far-fetched region of predictions, but someone whose name was tossed around when Spectre was first announced with Lana Del Rey. She has become popular with the film composer scene, getting gigs singing on the soundtracks of The Great Gatsby and Big Eyes.  Now, it seems unlikely that she will perform this theme song, but her breathy and unique voice and dreamy tone will be a great fit for the Bond universe and be a great contrast to the belting that Adele did in “Skyfall”.

Kanye West
…but seriously, why not? Its clear that Sam Mendes wants a more hip James Bond film, so why not go for something completely new and try some hip hop? Say what you will about Kanye and his ego, but the man has great talent when it comes to music, and his lyrics are meaningful and his voice is piercingly brilliant. They will go for hip hop at some point, so why not try and get the biggest hip hop star at the moment to do it? This is just a pipe-dream obviously, but it wouldn’t be that much of a disaster.

I fully expect Sam Smith to have the gig. It seems like he is hinting that he is performing it, so I see no reason to doubt him. However, I am personally hoping for a really left-field choice come tomorrow morning.
