We’ve accompanied Project Alice for five films since Resident Evil first debuted in 2002, and we are now approaching the final installment of her story. Recently the film Resident Evil: The Final Chapter began filming in South Africa (with a stunt double seriously injured) and it has officially been confirmed that a few familiar faces will reappear in the Resident Evil film franchise. Of course Milla Jovovich will return as Alice, and in addition we will once again see fan favorite character Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), villain Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts) and a deceased character from the second and third films known as Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen).
The returning cast members will also be joined by a few new characters Abigail (Ruby Rose), Christian (William Levy), Doc (Eoin Macken), and Cobalt (Japanese model Rola). It is unknown if we will have the chance to see the return of Chris Redfield with Wentworth Miller attached to Legends Of Tomorrow and the Prison Break revival, and actress Sienna Guillory who played Jill Valentine haven’t yet been confirmed. Last week Guillory responded to her fans via Instagram about her role and said that it wasn’t her decision and she supports whatever Jovovich and husband/director Paul Anderson have in store for fans. Hopefully something can be worked out that can provide us glimpses of these characters who played such an important role in the ongoing plot of the RE franchise, but either way I’m eagerly anticipating the final film!
To make things even better, we have an official synopsis for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter that reads: “Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.”
