Hugh Jackman has been talking about hanging up the claws for good, and he was recently asked if he had any thoughts who should play Wolverine after him. He had a phenomenal answer — one that will please certain fandoms, for sure.
I haven’t really given it a lot of thought. I’ve been asked that question a lot, and I’m always like, ‘I don’t wanna make it too easy on the studio to replace me, you know! I’ve still got one more to do! […] he’s younger than me for sure – I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine.
Tom Hardy is clearly in demand these days, pulling double duty in the recent film Legend and being hotly tipped to play the next James Bond. I guess there are worse choices, but I will definitely be sad to see Jackman go!
Jackman has played Wolverine in seven X-Men films — including a cameo in X-Men: First Class — and, like he said, he has one more solo film due to come out in 2017.
Who do you think should replace him when he inevitably leaves the X-Men franchise? Is Tom Hardy a good pick for Wolverine? Should they retire what is, arguably, their most lucrative character with Jackman?
