Vin Diesel Shames The Body-Shamers

Vin Diesel took on body-shaming after becoming the latest target for rocking a “dad-bod.” His response was nothing short of fantastic.

We all know Vin Diesel as the buff, gravelly-voiced  hero of the Fast & Furious franchise, Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy and a slew of other fantastic films. But recently a photo surfaced of Vin that depicted him as less than buff and in more…just a dude manner. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that because Vin might be gorgeous on the outside, but he’s just as warm, sweet and beautiful on the inside as evidenced by his reaction to the snarky attacks from certain news outlets.

Vin told Good Morning America Tuesday, “Honestly, I would rather it come to me than somebody else. I can take it.” When asked about the  online negativity, he continued, “I don’t care, really. I’m not trying to be in super shape all of the time. I’m trying to master my craft of making films.”

Diesel also took to Instagram saying, “It is amazing the response from the journalists who I have been talking to for the last two days in New York. Today one wanted to see the dad bod. Haha. I am wondering if I should show the picture…Body-shaming is always wrong! What do you think?”

Well, the next photo Vin posted quickly shut down the shamers as he flashed a set of abs I could do my laundry on.

But Vin is absolutely right, body-shaming is wrong, regardless. It doesn’t matter if you work for a “legitimate” news outlet or if you’re a two-bit YouTuber making a desperate grab for fame; body-shaming is just plain wrong. And this latest example aimed at Vin Diesel just goes to show that men in Hollywood are starting to come under the same scrutiny that women have dealt with for decades. Where women are expected to be super-thin and flawless, male actors are all expected to have washboard abs at all times. Heaven forbid they enjoy a slice of cheesecake or two in-between projects or take time away from the gym to spend with their families.

Rock-hard abs or “dad-bod,” we love Vin no matter what. Make sure you check him out alongside Elijah Wood in his upcoming film The Last Witch Hunter, in theaters October 23!
