Vin Diesel Plays D&D As A Witch Hunter On Critical Role

Vin Diesel joined the cast of Critical Role in a special Dungeons & Dragons campaign based on his new film, The Last Witch Hunter.

One of the best shows on YouTube is Critical Role. Produced by Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry network, the cameras roll while a group of people get together and play Dungeons & Dragons. But you haven’t really seen D&D until you’ve seen it played by a roomful of professional voice actors. Matthew Mercer (Batman: Arkham Knight) heads up the group as Dungeon Master and spins an adventurous tale filled with the most vibrant and engaging characters you can imagine. Joined by fellow voice actors like Laura Bailey (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble)  and Travis Willingham (Ultimate Spider-Man), the show is the perfect way to introduce a novice to D&D.

So, when the one and only Vin Diesel joined the crew of Critical Role alongside Jessica Chobot (Nerdist News) and Dan Casey (The Dan Cave) for a special, thirty-minute campaign…well, my nerd heart exploded.

Mercer crafted a special adventure based on Diesel’s new film, The Last Witch Hunter and Vin played Kaulder, a…well, a witch hunter (and the name of his character in the film). Not coincidentally, Vin played D&D growing up and the character he played in the game as a kid was a witch hunter. And his experiences playing the game heavily influenced production of the film.

Watching Vin play D&D gives fans a little glimpse into a different side of the action star. Diesel even uploaded a video online when the game concluded showing his child-like glee after filming this episode of Critical Role at the Nerdist offices in California.

It’s really hard not to grin from ear-to-ear while watching this episode because his enthusiasm is infectious. And yeah, the guy can totally roll some criticals! So take a little time and watch Vin play Dungeons & Dragons…and better yet, make time to go on your own D&D adventure when you’re done!

The Last Witch Hunter is in theaters October 23rd and you can watch Vin’s full campaign on the Geek & Sundry website!
