Jaden Smith Is The Face Of Louis Vuitton’s 2016 Spring/Summer Campaign

Louis Vuitton’s fashion director announced over Instagram that Jaden Smith will be the face of its new 2016 Spring/Summer women’s campaign.

Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, revealed quite the exciting news via his Instagram account – Jaden Smith is the face of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer Campaign. The actor was rumored to be the new face for quite some time, but no confirmation was announced until now. The photo posted by Ghesquière show’s Jaden “rocking” several pieces from the women’s collection – pieces that made their grand debut at last year’s Paris Fashion Week. Another shot, which is for the Series 4 women’s campaign, features Jaden alongside Rianne Van Rompaey, Jean Campbell and Sarah Brannon. The photos were taken by legendary fashion photographer Bruce Weber, who will also shot the rest of the ad series.

Smith is known for his unique fashion choices, and for breaking social norms. Modelling in a gender-fluid ad campaign is not a move that will surprise his fans in the least – he has also become known for his gender-neutral position on clothing. That may have been one of the reasons why in 2015 he was named one of GQ’s Most Stylish Men Alive.

This reveal comes hot off the heels of Vuitton’s other surprising and welcome announcement in which he unveiled Lightning – a character from the popular franchise Final Fantasy – will be starring in his campaign. The choice came as quite the fitting surprise considering “the collection’s direct inspiration from anime, science fiction, and computer culture.”
