Coldplay will be joined by not just one but two Super Bowl Halftime pros during their performance at this year’s event.
Entertainment Tonight revealed that both Bruno Mars and Beyonce will perform alongside the British rockers on February 7th during Pepsi’s Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.
Beyonce will be likely joining the group for a live rendition of “Hymn for the Weekend,” the third track off the band’s recent album A Head Full of Dreams, which features Queen Bey singing along with lead singer, Chris Martin. Bruno Mars is also reported to take the stage, although what they might perform together is still up in the air.
This is just the first of many performances coming up from Coldplay as they prepare to go on their A Head Full of Dreams Tour, which is currently scheduled throughout Latin America and Europe and starts on March 31st. The band also announced that they will visit Asia and North America, although specific dates have not been announced for those regions.
Phi Harvey, childhood friend, artistic director, and the unofficial fifth member of Coldplay, also stated that there are still more announcements to come, including more special guests who will join the band during their show.
Bruno Mars previously headlined the halftime show in 2014 and was the second most-watched performance with 115 million viewers, second only to Katy Perry’s performance in 2015. Beyonce took the stage in 2013, which also included a small Destiny’s Child reunion.
Immediately following the Super Bowl, CBS will air a special episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The Late Late Show with James Corden will follow after a small local news break. This decision breaks the tradition of having a prime-time television series as the lead-out program, usually making it one of the most watched programs of the year.
Super Bowl 50 will air on February 7, 2016 on CBS.
