The Simpsons Tweet Honors Alan Rickman and David Bowie

The Simpsons tweeted out a clip honoring Alan Rickman and David Bowie as they mourn, with the rest of the world, the loss of these great artists.

The Simpsons recently tweeted out an homage to the late, great  Alan Rickman and David Bowie. The clip also features fellow Brit, Benedict Cumberbatch and the song All the Young Dudes.  It is a  reminder of the depth of talent that was lost by the both the  film and music industries within recent days.

The clip is from a Simpsons season 24 episode entitled  “Love is a Many Splintered Thing” and the segment is a parody of Rickman’s film Love Actually.  In it, Cumberbatch portrays the role awarded to Hugh Grant in the film and Rickman appears as Severus Snape.  While the song All the Young Dudes is sung by Mott the Hoople, it was written by David Bowie and was the bands biggest hit.

Both Rickman and Bowie have appeared in countless films, television shows, and cartoons.  Bowie had released his 25th studio album (not counting the two he released with the band Tin Machine) just two weeks prior to his death on January 10th.  The hole left in the realm of entertainment is huge.  Thankfully though, their art has made them eternal.  And thanks to The Family Guy, we will forever be able to have Alan Rickman on our answering machines.
