Torrey Mercer Announces New Single ‘Snake BIte’

If you haven’t heard of Torrey Mercer you are about to. San Diego pop artist Torrey Mercer just recently announced the release of her new single “Snake Bite”  the second song off her EP entitled Exhale out now.

For the majority of her life, the rising talent has loved singing and performing live. She has received training in various genres and has competed in numerous musical competitions to hone her craft. It was not until age seventeen that she released her own original content.

Her single “Looking Glass” won her the title of “Best Pop Song” at the 2013 Music Channel Awards. Since then her life and music have only continued to improve.

Mercer brings a blend of synth-pop with elements of rock and soul. Her inspirations include Lana Del Rey and Fall Out Boy to name a few.

We at PopWrapped we got the chance to listen to her newest single “Snake Bite”.  We asked her what her inspiration for the song was, and here is what you need to know:

“It’s about a relationship that was intense from the start, and that became unhealthy just as fast as it began. We fell in love quickly, but just as quickly he got verbally and emotionally abusive, and ended up cheating on me. For a long time I was hesitant to write this song because I was scared of exposing what happened in this relationship to everyone…but I didn’t want to be silenced anymore. He was the kind of guy who went through relationship after relationship like this, and I know that there’s others out there who relate to this same thing. I wanted to write a song to give those who feel trapped in a relationship a voice, and to hopefully empower them to get themselves out of that dark place.”

After listening I really did enjoy listening to the story behind the song. The blend of vocals along with the music makes the song a must-listen.
