Hot on the heels of yesterday’s incredible news that Milo Ventimiglia will be returning as Jess, it has been announced that Jared Padalecki will be back as Dean Forester! And thus, Rory’s trifecta returns with the announcements of all three of her major love interests!

Padalecki appeared on Gilmore Girls from 2000-2005 as Rory’s first love. His last appearance was utterly heart wrenching when Dean appeared truly broken and bitter over the way his relationship with Rory ended. And for this fan, the possibility of resolution and seeing him (hopefully) a happy and prospering adult, truly does my heart well.
Also announced as returning today is Lorelai’s first love and Rory’s dad, Christopher Hayden, played by David Sutcliffe. Things were still pretty up-in-the-air with Lorelai and Chris during the last season of Gilmore Girls. The couple had gotten married in a whirlwind ceremony in Paris and then, very quickly, hit a rocky spell once they returned home. But there’s no denying the deep connection these two share and it could spell trouble for those still rooting for Luke and Lorelai to get together.
It is still unclear when the characters will make their respective appearances in the revival. But it is reported the new episodes will take the form of four 90-minute movies taking place during a season of one year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall).
For Gilmore Girls fans, this is turning out to be an amazing year! Now…if only we could complete Lorelai’s trifecta and bring back Scott Cohen as Max!
