David Bowie’s Son Weighs In On Lady Gaga’s Grammys Tribute

David Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, weighs in on Lady Gaga tribute to his late father, and he seems to be less than enthused by the performance as a whole.

David Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, has weighed in on Lady Gaga’s Grammy tribute to his late father, and it doesn’t seem like he loved the performance as much as we did.  On February 15th he posted the following Tweet, defining the word “gaga” in a less than flattering manner:

Lady Gaga’s tribute performance was no “off the cuff” undertaking for her.  She worked with David Bowie producer Nile Rodgers  and Intel to create a high-tech performance that  was shrouded in secrecy until showtime.   It is clear that Lady Gaga put the time and effort in to pay homage to the late Bowie in a way she felt was  true to the spirit of his career.  The nine song montage highlighted some of his biggest hits and most iconic personas.  There were mixed reviews in the media about the performance, but for Duncan Jones it was apparently off the mark.  He has made no further comment on the issue so, while it is clear he was not wowed, what is not clear is why.

Some have called her tribute performance “Astonishing” (Rolling Stone), some “Ambitiously Confusing” (New York Times).  Lady Gaga has even taken some heat for the “behind the scenes” short film highlighting her work with Intel.  She has been accused of using the performance as  marketing gimmick for the company.  Lady Gaga has long been a fan of Bowie.  She has paid homage to him in the liner notes of her album The Fame and most recently has been seen rocking a tattoo of Bowie on her rib cage:
