LEGO Picks Up ‘The Force Awakens’ Prequels

LEGO and Disney XD are teaming up to bring us a new mini series, Star Wars: The Resistance Rises. Lego doubles of our favorite characters––count me in!

Just in case you needed a good laugh, or even just a chortle, the LEGO company is here to help!

Disney XD and LEGO are teaming up to release Star Wars: The Resistance Rises. These will be a series of animated shorts detailing the events leading up to when we first meet Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens.

Even though we know Poe does not escape the life of a loyal Stormtrooper until after his first battle in The Force Awakens, Disney’s first LEGO short, “Poe to the Rescue,” will give us Poe, BB-8, C3P0, and Admiral Akbar escaping from Kylo Ren and the First Order.

Don’t do it! It’s a trap!

The shorts are supposed to take place well before The Force Awakens, but if the synopsis of the first is any indication, they’re fudging that line a little bit.

Other episodes will feature the LEGO likenesses of Rey, Fin, Maz Kanata, and Han Solo. Of course, we can expect Kylo Ren to make an entrance––but how will they incorporate his hair?

Let’s be real, the guy has some pretty voluminous curls. I’m surprised his helmet didn’t pop off in the middle of one of his tantrums.

LEGO’s iconic humor has served them well in households across the galaxy, wringing laughter out of Star Wars: Droid Tales and other shows. These retell the Prequel and Original Trilogies in complete LEGO style, giving new insight and even more hilarity.

Although we won’t be able to see the start of the new LEGO short series until June of this year, we are assured it will be everything its predecessors were and more!

In the meantime, we can sit back and enjoy this hilarious trailer for The Force Awakens videogame.

What say you, PopStars? Have you marked your calendars? I personally will be sporting my lightsaber umbrella for the rest of the year!
