2016 Is Going To Be The Year Of Nintendo

2016 is going to be Nintendo’s year thanks to their first smartphone app and new console details on the horizon.

2016 is going to be the Year of Nintendo.  With their first ever smartphone app and new console details on the horizon they are going to be the company to beat this year.

To kick it all off the company unveiled the new Nintendo New York.  Fans began lining up as early as 6:30 in the morning to be among the first to enter the Rockefeller Center location.  The store replaces the old Nintendo World, which was closed in January for a major overhaul.  The company says the store not only has an updated look, but includes some modern bells and whistles.  The 10,000 square foot store takes up two floors.   The store is located on the first floor and an updated Nintendo exhibit is housed on the second floor.  Additionally, many of the new displays are on wheels.  This will enable the store to not only change its look, but allow space to be opened up when the store hosts events.

Next up for the video game giant is Miimoto, the first ever Nintendo app.  The app is scheduled to be released next month and preregistration is already available.  Miimoto is a social app that allows users to create and customize Mii avatars, create Miifotos, and post them to Facebook and Twitter.  A user’s Mii can even interact with Miis created by friends.

The buzz is starting to increase around Nintendo’s next gaming system, details of which are supposed to be made available this year.  Little is known about the system as of yet, except that it is currently under development under the codename “NX” and that it promises to be a different experience from Wii and WiiU.  Reports also say that Bandai Namco is currently developing software for the system and that Smash Bros is flagged to be a launch title.

Nintendo fans, enjoy the ride, as it looks like there is a lot in store in 2016.
