If you aren’t paying attention to the current progression of the 2016 Presidential race, you’re missing out on some hilarious moments. Donald Trump is the latest candidate to be involved in the humor, and we’re going way back in time for this one…
One such hilarious moment occurred back in 2009, and has since come back to bite none other than Donald Trump in the butt. He opened the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative in June of that year, charging students to take classes on how to flip homes for profit.
Do you smell that? Something fishy? Yeah, me too.
Well, so did Richard and Shelly Hewson. The New Jersey couple paid the school approximately $21,490 to learn how to flip houses for profit “because we had faith in Donald Trump.” But instead of learning useful skills, like how to find a reliable property to sell, all they got was a field trip to a rather shady neighborhood in Philadelphia.
“We thought that if this was his program, we would be learning to do real estate deals from his people who knew his techniques,” Richard told the National Review. “We realized that Trump was not teaching us how to find these needles in a haystack. We concluded that we had paid over $20,000 for nothing, based on our belief in Donald Trump and the promises made at the [organization’s] free seminar and three-day workshop.”
At the end of their experience with Trump’s university, the couple decided not to try and get their money back because they “would not be able to fight Donald Trump.” At this point, the man is running for president of the United States. Any accusations of slander, while it would make for hilarious television, would be swept under the rug by the Republican party or a gaggle of lawyers.
However, scams like this don’t stay buried for long, and it could be fast coming to tarnish his “business record and the respect it’s garners him.”
The Hewsons are just one of thousands of couples and individuals who have opened a civil lawsuit against the scam university. Approximately 5,000 students have filed fraud charges against Trump’s school.
Last October, a New York court declared Donal Trump and his university personally responsible for repaying every student from as far back as May 2010 “because it was operating illegally without a state license.”
Oh, sweet justice.
Although Trump’s representatives have been busy covering up his reputation, claiming “there’s no merit to these allegations whatsoever,” and that students are only filing this claim in an effort to get money, we cannot deny the facts.
This venture failed. End of story. Now it’s time to pick up the pieces (and maybe bow out while they still can).
