How amazing would it be to duet with Christina Aguilera on live TV? That dream became a reality for one lucky contestant on The Voice…
On The Voice one of the contestants sang ‘I Put A Spell On You’ for their blind audition, and it got the attention of several judges, Aguilera being the first. Joe Maye was that contestant and he started a bidding war among the judges.
We know how those look. Christina vowed that she was first but Blake claimed that he likes to hear the whole song first. Pharrell actually remembered the guy auditioning the season before but the song just wasn’t right. Looks like, Maye decided to try again and this time it was more than worth it.
Christina Aguilera wanted to sing the song with him, which is true to her character and let’s be honest, we all love a chance to hear her belt out a tune. Well, she surprises this kid because she gets up on that stage to duet! Maye freaks out as Aguilera gets herself a mic and begins her journey to the stage. He’ll probably pick her, right?

Christina riffs and runs all over the song, but Maye is able to keep up with her every step of the way. They sound great together and we feel like it had to be rehearsed because it sounded so natural. And at the end of the song, he sang “I’m yours” signifying that he was choosing to be on Christina’s team! A duet will always win the contestant so take note boys.
