What’s In A Name? ‘Meet The Hitlers’ Coming Soon To Digital HD

‘Meet The Hitlers’ follows several people who have the unfortunate surname Hitler. Directed by Matt Ogen, this documentary explores human tolerance.

What would you do if your name and face turned heads — but not for the reasons you might expect? That is what we can expect from Meet the Hitlers, a documentary by Emmy-nominated director Matt Ogens (Confessions of a Superhero).

The film synopsis reads:

“Most of us don’t give names much thought, but some names can’t be ignored. This is why 80-year-old Gene Hitler expects a double take whenever he presents his Medicare card, and why teenager Emily Hitler finds high school a struggle for acceptance. Matt Ogens’ (Confessions of a Superhero, the upcoming narrative feature North) MEET THE HITLERS examines the relationship between names and identity by exploring the lives of people from all walks of life who happen to be linked by the name Hitler.”

Ogen’s film explores how we place meaning in names and how those meanings can be misconstrued over time. It explores complex social issues like race, immigration, and tolerance.  Completely character driven with Ogen’s eye for detail, we will follow several people with the surname Hitler. We will see what happens when 80-year-old Gene Hitler uses his medical card for his annual check up or how Emily Hitler feels while navigating the cruel and unforgiving halls of high school. These people did not choose their name, but they are all linked together and to history by the name Hitler.

The film will be released under the Morgan Spurlock Presents banner. Spurlock (Super Size Me) is an Oscar-nominated director whose goal is to bring more documentaries to theaters, DVD, and video on demand (VOD). Other films that have been released under his brand include A Brony Tale, I Am Santa Claus, and Two: The Story of Roman and Nyro.

Meet the Hitlers will be released by Virgil Films & Entertainment’s Morgan Spurlock Presents. It will be available in Digital HD beginning April 5, 2016.
