Several months after the release of their debut album Precious Things, Juno and Spark, AKA Peppermint Heaven, have found themselves rightly earning more fans on both sides of the Atlantic as they share their unique sound and style of music with the world.
Now, the pair have released the next video in their ongoing collection of tracks from the album, with this one being for their song “Foreign Feeling”.
As is now somewhat the bands’ tradition, they have once again teamed up with acclaimed director Pierce G. Wilson to showcase their creativity and it’s safe to say that Wilson works in almost complete harmony with the guys as they continue to produce their stunning pieces.
Asked how the song came about, Juno explains:
The melody and lyric idea came to me while I was driving up the interstate 5 Freeway here in LA – falling in love feeling like falling off of a cliff. I had to stop the car and sing it into my phone, so I wouldn’t forget it. This is one of the few songs on the album that began outside the studio – not being based on a drum loop – the other being “The Girl I Used To Know”. Both of these have acoustic guitar and piano which provide a bit of a break from the harder, darker synth tracks on the album. When I showed the idea to Spark, he loved it and came up with a beautiful middle section “Wake me wake me I’m falling…”. “Foreign Feeling” is shaping up to be a fan favourite.
Wilson adds of the videos’ concept:
To me,”Foreign Feeling” had such relatable and evocative lyrics, and I wanted to channel that energy into the video. I used this video to tell the most concrete video out of the whole series; focusing on the relationship between two youthful lovebirds. The characters embark on a small camping trip which references the traveling motif present in the song, but also provides them an environment free of outside stimulation, and allows them to interact in isolation with each other. Although I feel like the story told is very relatable, the ending takes a very surreal turn. I wanted to end the video on a sense of confusion and wonder; much like the aforementioned foreign feeling.
