Mark Ruffalo Talks About His Role In Thor: Ragnarok, Says It Will Be An “Intergalactic Buddy Movie”

If the first Avengers film is anything to go by, it is quite apparent that there is no love lost between the two physically strongest characters in the team.

Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) barely had time to get to know each other when the two had to go at it aboard the Helicarrier. Granted, Hulk is often out of control and can rarely tell the difference between friend and foe, but even when they are fighting side-by-side and they have downed a massive alien, the green behemoth chose to punch the God of Thunder, for no apparent reason.

Even if no such thing happened in Age of Ultron, those two barely interacted either.

But things are going to be different in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. It seems that the two superheroes will be getting a dose of bromance.

“It’s an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor,” Mark Ruffalo said in an interview with ET during a junket for his latest film, Now You See Me 2.

But even if that may be the case for Bruce Banner, what about his green alter ego? “I think it will be smashing. You’ll see a lot more Hulk and I think it’ll–” he said, before getting interrupted by Now You See Me 2 co-star Woody Harrelson, who asked if Hulk gets ‘Hulkier’? To which Ruffalo replied “The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger.”

Ruffalo did not confirm whether that bromance will extend to the ‘big guy.’ But we can infer that when the feelings are strong, they may be able to extend to Banner’s alter ego, just like what happened with Black Widow.

Let us just hope that it can, somehow, come close to Captain America-Bucky’s level of friendship.

Ruffalo also had something to say about the movie’s fearsome villain, Hela, who is going to be played by Academy Award winner, Cate Blanchett.

“She plays the worst of the worst. So evil,” he hinted “She is going to kill us. It’s such a great part she gets to play.”

Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit cinemas on November 3rd, 2017, while Ruffalo’s latest film, Now You See Me 2 will premier June 10th.
