Tyler Hoechlin Cast As Superman On “Supergirl”

Former Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Superman in the upcoming second season of “Supergirl”.

Earlier this month, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced that after remaining elusive for the show’s first season, Superman would be making his way to National City to join his cousin Kara for more than just their usual instant messages.

Well, fans, it looks like the CW’s Supergirl  has finally put a face to the Man of Steel, and fans of MTV’s Teen Wolf will be thrilled with the news.

That’s right, after much speculation on the subject,  Kreisberg announced that none other than Tyler Hoechlin will be next to don that famous red cape.

For those who don’t know, Hoechlin starred as Derek Hale – Scott McCall’s sometimes-mentor, sometimes-enemy – on MTV’s Teen Wolf, until the actor decided to end his stint as a series regular, stating that he wanted more time to pursue movies, devastating fans in the process.

According to Kreisberg, he and fellow EP Greg Berlanti have been itching to work with Hoechlin for some time now. “[We] have wanted to work with Tyler for ages,” he stated, “so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled  and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

After it was recently announced that the Man of Steel would indeed be making an appearance on the show, fans quickly began speculating as to who would portray the famous hero, with many calling for the return of former Smallville star, Tom Welling. Something tells us, though, that the fans won’t be too disappointed with this turn of events.

Hoechlin, who will portray both Superman and his journalist alter-ego Clark Kent, is slated to appear in the first two episodes of the new season when the series, formerly housed on CBS, makes its move to the CW this fall.

Until then, fans can only hope that Hoechlin will reprise his role as the Man of Steel in the highly anticipated four-way crossover. Hint hint, Kriesberg.
