Corey Lewandowski Cut From Donald Trump Campaign Team

Corey Lewandowski has been cut from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign team in light of recent concerns from the Republican party.

Donald Trump has been so unpopular, his own party has tried to tear him down. In light of this, the presidential hopeful has “cut ties with his controversial campaign manager Corey Lewandowski,” according to Huffington Post. The story was first reported by the New York Times after Trump made an official announcement.

No one truly believed Trump would run for president. But Lewandowski worked hard, from January 2015 up to May 2016, when Trump’s only rivals for the GOP nomination dropped out of the race. Lewandowski’s exit comes on the heels of “months of concerns from party officials.”

Unfortunately, Lewandowski’s original approach, to just “let Trump be Trump,” didn’t work out so well. Since that tactic failed, Lewandowski has been facing increased pressure from the campaign as a whole.

Lewandowski also accompanied Trump to all of his rallies and meetings outside of New York. This gave him greater access to Trump than anyone else outside of the nominee’s family.

Throughout Trump’s campaign, Lewandowski has allowed him to say whatever he wants, inciting political violence, brandishing his xenophobia, and his repeated pledge to ban all Muslims (roughly 1.6 billion religious members) from entering the United States.

GOP lobbyist Paul Manafort attempted to assure the Republican party Trump would “adopt a more presidential tone and strategy” once he took the Oval Office. Unfortunately, since Trump does not keep a computer or cell phone at his desk, Lewandowski and spokeswoman Hope Hicks have had uninterrupted access to the candidate and his speeches.

While Manafort’s allies have “cheered Monday’s announcement,” no one has been nominated to replace Lewandowski. Most of the Republican party “welcomed the firing as a positive step, but they suggested that it needed to be followed by consistent changes in performance from the candidate himself.”

Baby steps, guys.

Trump will need to broaden his team in light of the upcoming Republican National Convention. Perhaps adding a few more people with actual presidential campaign experience?

Who would you want to see replace Lewandowski?
