Paul Ryan Defends His Endorsement Of Donald Trump

Republican Speaker Paul Ryan discussed his endorsement of Donald Trump, defending the Republican nominee and asserting why he’s better than Clinton.

The United States Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, has come out to defend his endorsement of Republican presumptive nominee for President, Donald Trump.

“It is either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. You don’t get a third option,” Ryan explained during a CNN town hall hosted by Jake Tapper.

Speaker Ryan has previously clashed with the billionaire on several political issues, but as the highest ranking Republican he is in a way obligated to support his party’s presumptive candidate.

But just because you are Republican does not mean you have to support a candidate whose policy you don’t agree with, and this is something that was most probably in the mind of one student who identifies as one, when he asked the Speaker a question.

“It concerns me when the Republican leadership is supporting somebody who is openly racist and has said Islamophobic statements and wants to shut down our borders. Can you tell me, how can you morally justify your support for this kind of candidate, somebody who can be so destructive?” Marcone asked.

Ryan responded with, “that basically means you will help elect Hillary Clinton, and I don’t think Hillary Clinton is gonna support anything you stand for, if you’re Republican,” he told Marcone and then addressed the issues raised by the student. “So on some of the issues you mentioned, I speak out when I see something that was wrong, and heard something that was wrong, that did not reflect my views or the views of fellow conservatives and Republicans. So it’s important, no matter the circumstances to speak out for what you believe in.”

He then went on to say that Hillary represents a “third Obama term” and with her in the White House they may be unable to pursue the programs and agendas that the Republicans want to pass.

“So yes things have been said that I too disagree with then I’ll make that point then, but I’m going to fight for the principles and solutions that I believe in and the candidate that I think is so much more likely to put those into law, because I know Hillary Clinton won’t do that.” Ryan explained.

What do you think, is that justification enough for his supporting someone like Trump?
