Marvel Teases Upcoming Luke Cage, Iron Fist And Defenders At SDCC

Marvel delighted fans of its Netflix shows at SDCC, by premiering three new trailers for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the Defenders.

One of the best parts of San Diego Comic Con, if you aren’t lucky enough to be there in person, is the teasers, announcements, and trailers that are released about almost all your favourite fandoms. Marvel and Netflix did not disappoint, releasing new teasers and trailers for three of the most anticipated series on the horizon.

The teasers were shown at the Luke Cage panel as part of an extended sizzle reel, teasing the Defenders. Full length trailers for Luke Cage and Iron Fist were also shown.

The Luke Cage trailer, as seen above, features the near-indestructible Luke Cage, and sets the series up to take place in Harlem, as opposed to Hell’s Kitchen, where most of the action in Jessica Jones and Daredevil takes place. There are hints that the upcoming series will see more realistic threats, as opposed to the superhumans and megalomaniacs that were heavily featured in Marvel’s other Netflix shows. Luke Cage will arrive on Netflix on September 30, worldwide.

Iron Fist features Finn Jones as Danny Rand, who inheritedhis powers as a child after finding himself in K’un Lun, a mystical place. There aren’t many details about this series, nor many hints about what we can expect from Jones’ Rand.

The Defenders gave us even less information than Iron Fist, but still managed to be incredibly intriguing. The Defenders is Marvel’s upcoming team up show, uniting the heroes from each Netflix property (Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones). Perhaps the most interesting part about it is the voiceover, presumably by Daredevil’s mentor Stick, asking “you think the four of you can save New York? You can’t even save yourselves”.

In other Netflix/Marvel news, a third season of Daredevil was announced, and the Punisher’s series was also teased. Unfortunately, there was no word about the release date for Iron Fist or The Defenders, nor was anything announced about Jessica Jones’ second season. Fans were also disappointed to hear nothing from the network about their attempts to save Agent Carter by asking Netflix to purchase the rights.
