Aged just eighteen, DOMENICO has already proven himself to be an immense musical talent. As a multi-instrumentalist and entrepreneur who has already had his own TED Talk, he’s earned himself support from some of the biggest names in the industry and more look set to follow with the release of his debut EP, The Morris Code, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere below.
Asked about his influences which come through on the EP, DOMENICO explains:
I grew up studying albums by The Beatles and Billy Joel via backyard parties and “VH1 Classic” specials. Being exposed to timeless song-writing at such a formidable age helped cultivate my intense passion for storytelling. It wasn’t until I turned nine years old that JT’s “Future Sex Love Show” debuted on HBO, and subsequently made me obsess over the art of RnB.
Having recorded the collection throughout his senior year of high-school, he believes the EP is a testament to how, in his own words:
…chasing a passion helps curb negativity. This album, and the manner in which it was created, proves that exact point. In a culture flooded with pressure to act certain ways, have certain thoughts, and conform to certain social ideals or lack thereof. I chose to celebrate being an individual through my music. It ultimately made me a happier person. I want others to take the same path, because it feels great.
Music has been a lifelong passion for DOMENICO and it’s only getting stronger. As to where he sees himself in the future and his upcoming plans, he says:
I’m pushing to raise awareness for my education non-profit, Real World Academy, which assists students with configuring their passion to work for them in school, and real life. I also am working to expand my production company, il Dottore, with dope music, apparel, and positive lifestyle promotion. While all of this may seem like a large order to undertake, I thrive under pressure and with a self-imposed high expectations.
