The Chainsmokers Are Teaming Up With Chris Martin

The Chainsmokers, riding high on the success of their most recent hit, ‘Closer’, have announced a collaboration with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

The Chainsmokers are the men of the moment for their addictive number one hit “Closer”. And it seems the duo are now in the process of making another blockbuster collaboration, this time with Coldplay’s Chris Martin!

Sure, he may not be as sexy as Halsey — although I know many of you would beg to differ — but he is a way bigger star with his band and has years of experience in the music industry in performing or song-writing. If the previews are any indication, this collaboration may in fact be their next big hit!

There is no word yet on whether this would involve the entire band or just Chris Martin, but this team-up would prove to be a coup for the duo composed of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall. Before “Closer” became a phenomenon, the duo had faced rejection from artists they wanted to work with, most notably Weezer, who, after initially refusing a cameo in the Chainsmokers’ Coachella set, actually went back to them to ask for a collaboration.

Speaking to Billboard, Pall made his feelings, known on how they dealt with the 360 degree turn.

“They were like, ‘Yo! We should do a track together,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, really?’” He continued, saying, “I can’t blame somebody for saying no early on, but it depends on how you said no and how you came back to us. If you own it, like, ‘I didn’t see the vision, but it’s clear now and it’s super sick,’ I get that. It feels good when those people are like … thirsty”.

Well, hopefully a big star like Chris Martin was not that “thirsty”. And with their success, the Coldplay front man is surely not the only artist who wanted to work with them.

In the same interview, the duo revealed that Linkin Park called them up while Pall was in the toilet! Big Sean also wanted to confirm a session. It sounds like we have a lot to look forward to!
