Having just released her sophomore album Happily Ever After, Doreen Taylor is making a name for herself as a real artist to watch in a music industry making and breaking the careers of thousands around the world.
Having earned herself degrees in both opera and vocal performance, Doreen began her career on the stage, performing in an array of musicals before switching things up and moving her focus to song-writing and recording. She, then, came to global attention thanks to her single “TOY”, which reached number 31 on Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary chart last year. Taylor has seen her social media following and the size of her shows grow exponentially, and she couldn’t be happier about it.
With support and coverage from the likes of CBS, Fox News, The CW and The Lifetime Network behind her already, and with the Philadelphia Enquirer declaring that “Taylor’s enthusiasm, personality, and musicality are engaging”, she uses her growing fame to not only further her own career but also to speak out about issues that matter to her, knowing she can use her status to benefit others and support organizations including GLAAD — The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation — and The Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Asked about her new album, Happily Ever After, Taylor says:
“It focuses on fusing powerhouse vocals and haunting melodies while incorporating elements of retro and modern popular music. I was honored to work with musical legend Larry Gold, who has worked with Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Lana Del Rey, Justin Timberlake and others, on the entirety of the album, and it pulls from several eclectic musical styles, including R&B, soul and pop. I believe it really embraces the best of what I have to offer, and I am so excited to unleash it to the world.”
Of her favorite song on the collection, she adds:
“I love track three, which is called ‘Over’. In my opinion, it truly represents everything I am as an artist today and showcases my best talents as not only a vocalist but as a lyricist and a songwriter. It is an extremely powerful song and pulls from a very deep emotional place. I am very excited to be shooting a full production music video for the song and highlighting that angst and emotion in this new video.”
