Twitter is an amazing place, but can also be a terrible blackhole of negativity at times. Without being asked, people will give their opinions on anything and everything. When movie trailers are released, fans can share their feelings with millions of others also looking forward to a movie, or they can spout inappropriate nonsense about trailers, upsetting creators who spent lots of time and money on a project. Either way, tweets about trailers are a great way to gauge the buzz for any particular film.
Earlier this month, three major film trailers dropped: The Lego Batman Movie, Wonder Woman, and T2 Trainspotting. This is how Twitter reacted.

The Lego Batman Movie
There was tons and tons of excitement over this trailer (which I absolutely share). It seems fan expectations are high, but, with this cast, I know they can deliver.
I’m so excited for the Lego Batman movie. So damn excited
— Satu (@MJJEDS) November 6, 2016
i’m 100% serious when i say the lego batman movie looks like the best movie of 2017
— skytrek ? (@ohmypine) November 6, 2016
Watching trailer after trailer for this Lego Batman movie is making me very excited. Its so good to see Batman without a stick up his arse.
— Ectoplasmic Muppet (@Chazary_Man) November 6, 2016
I shared a similar experience to @lleeron. Finally a YouTube ad that I don’t want to skip. Normally 3 minute ads are the absolute worst, but not in this case.
there was an ad for the lego batman movie and i watched the whole thing fomdnkxlfmb
— LEECH (@lleeron) November 6, 2016
Others were less enthusiastic about seeing a Lego Batman. At least @duke86fan gave a reason for his apprehension.
the lego batman movie looks fucking terrible
— Loogle (@unclezaveid) November 5, 2016
Just saw the trailer to The Lego Batman Movie.
I…I don’t know who this movie is targeting tbh
— Pelar Browning (@MixMasterLar) November 6, 2016
i am semi skeptical for lego batman movie if ONLY because the writer
he was the guy who made dark shadows
— Allicat (@duke86fan) November 6, 2016
One consensus seemed to be reached by the majority of tweeters, which was thatm based on trailers, The Lego Batman Movie is going to be the best film made based on a DC character.
The Lego Batman Movie really is going to be better than every film in the DCEU, isn’t it?

The Lego Batman Movie looks like it could easily be the best DC film since 2008. That can’t be right.
— ki:ɹən məkfæʤən (@McFadgy) November 5, 2016
Dear DC Comics,
Please stop making those fake cgi LEGO movies. Your fans want more live action!
Sincerely,
– NO ONE
— Luke K. Johnston (@lukekjohnston) November 6, 2016
Heresy, I know, but judging by the trailer, The Lego Batman Movie looks smarter and more insightful than any of the Christopher Nolan films.
— Andy Murray (@KrakatoaAndy) November 6, 2016
Whats it say about DC movies when the lego batman movie looks more entertaining than Batman vs Superman…
— Aaron Fischer (@aaronfischer) November 6, 2016
Wonder Woman
Much like @Footz, I was expecting the worst of Twitter in reaction to the Wonder Woman trailer.
Wonder Woman trailer looks pretty good. Prolly a lot of haters because everyone hates DC for some reason.
— Devin Davidson (@Footz) November 6, 2016
However, I was pleasantly surprised to find lots of excited fans and no trolls spewing hate (like many other trailers).
Just saw the new Wonderwoman trailer and have much excite. #Youmacon
— HaberTweets™ (@ToddHaberkorn) November 6, 2016
I’m a guy (obviously), but the new Wonder Woman trailer is EPIC. This movie might just save the DC Cinematic Universe.
— Luke Hartman (@Skywriter_34) November 6, 2016
I’m all seriousness DC may finally be onto a winner with Wonder Woman such an epic trailer #WonderWoman
— matthew (@MattJenki) November 6, 2016
I’m in love with the Wonder Woman trailer. It’s absolutely stunning. pic.twitter.com/AxIcBRuK7H
— Ephrain (@SilvaOfSteel) November 6, 2016
Again, fans are hopeful that there will finally be a good DCEU film, and they talked some trash about Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.
Wonder Woman trailer looks amazing. Looking forward to this more than any DC film that has been released recently.
— Chris-tmas (@DresdenWasHere) November 6, 2016
The wonder woman trailer looks so good and I just pray DC come thru after the shit that was Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad

I saw the new Wonder Woman trailer and DC might at last have found something to compete with Marvel.
— andrew dalby (@ardalby) November 6, 2016
Finally got around to watching the #WonderWoman trailer and my jaw is on the floor. Looks a million times better than BvS and Suicide Squad.
— Kyle (@justagaynerd) November 6, 2016
As with many trailers, there was some doubt but not a lot (hence having to use a French tweet as an example).
En vrai ce qui me fait peur avec wonderwoman, c’est un coté trop lisse, une image pas assez travaillé (le trailer m’a fait douter)
— Cyrou (@CyrouEponge) November 6, 2016
I was amped when I saw the Wonder Woman trailer. But I remembered that Snyder is involved somehow, so I’ve tempered my expectations
— Tolu Afolabi (@tafo155) November 6, 2016
I just watched the Wonder Woman trailer. I don’t think First Avenger is in any danger of being dethroned as best super hero period piece.
— Beards of War (@Red_Vanguard) November 6, 2016
One point that worried fans was that, despite how good this trailer was, the film could be hampered by the forced romance story.
Sees Wonder Woman trailer: 😀
Sees unnecessary shoe horn romance scenes in trailer: D:— Monty Glu (@MontyGlu) November 6, 2016
Finally saw the new Wonder Woman trailer. Love finally seeing a female hero shot but please don’t force a romantic arch in as usual, please? pic.twitter.com/i20hWbgjOz

Looks like they’re adding het romance to #WonderWoman. Who asked for this?
— dhasenan (@dhasenan) November 4, 2016
Loved the WonderWoman trailer, just dislike that there is a romance, couldnt they made a story about a powerful woman, that has a story that
— Ilsa Hunt (@Night_Star83) November 3, 2016
#wonderwoman looks cool just wish there was no romance arc bc DON’T NEED JUST WANT DIANA
— dal? (@Dalhiaboogieman) November 3, 2016
Love everything about the #WonderWoman trailer except the very forced heterosexual romance. Overall though 8/10 am looking forward to it
— Caroline Sausser (@TweetingTeacup) November 3, 2016
However, that romance is with Steve Trevor played by Chris Pine and that is bound to please some ladies out there.
my mom watched the wonder woman trailer and the first thing she said was “OH MY GOD CHRIS PINE IS SO HOOOT ???” like mother like daughter
— . (@gilliansmargot) November 6, 2016
im bitter that theres romance in the wonder woman movie but since its chris pine ill allow it

T2 Trainspotting
Twitter fans immediately called out the silly sequel title. Why not just Trainspotting 2?
Trailer looks awesome. Hope the film is better than the name. #T2trainspotting

Quite pleased that, on the trailer alone, the only thing I remain unconvinced about in the Trainspotting sequel is the name #T2trainspotting
— Richard T. Campion (@RTC89) November 3, 2016
t2 trainspotting sounds like another entry into the fast and furious title line
— yeah and a half (@cosmosnauts) November 5, 2016
And of course, it was pointed out how T2 reminds fans of another beloved film.
T2 Trainspotting! @Schwarzenegger pic.twitter.com/M24bLy8Knv
— Matt (@thecultofpop) November 3, 2016
T2: Trainspotting will never live up to the awesome film that title conjures up. I hope someone at least makes a mashup trailer.
— Larry Wright (@refocusedmedia) November 3, 2016
T2 is an unfortunate title.Unless the film involves Arnie coming from the future to change the Trainspotting timeline #T2trainspotting
— Dominic Pillai (@DomPillai) November 3, 2016
T2: Trainspotting is a lousy and confusing title. Makes me think this is a Terminator crossover film. #T2Trainspotting
— CraigersCinemaCorner (@CraigKoban) November 3, 2016
Many fans are rightly worried about many a sequel to a classic film and hoping it doesn’t let down the original.
Just saw the #T2trainspotting trailer. I hope that movie doesn’t suck. I really do.

Just watching the trailer for T2 Trainspotting.

Am I the only one that is slightly worried about the sequel?#T2trainspotting https://t.co/YUYBcKjAMr
— Lenny Ogun (@OGUNPRO) November 4, 2016
The same feelings were shared by others hearing rumors of a Trainspotting sequel, but they were convinced by the trailer.

Other than some gentle ribbing and concern for sullying the original, it was all excitement for T2 Trainspotting.
I am actually so excited for #T2trainspotting. I remember watching the first over and over and over. Probs only decent British film.
— Goddess Abbyy (@AbbyyLewis36) November 5, 2016
I’m really #excited for #T2Trainspotting! I think it’s going to be #awesome #brilliant #exceptional #outstanding! #DannyBoyle #films
