Dancing With The Stars alumni Peta Murgatroyd and fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy welcomed their son early Wednesday morning in New York. Chmerkovskiy took to Twitter to announce the birth of his new son.

Just before the birth of little Shai, Chmerkovskiy posted on Instagram to share some pre-parent activities before their bundle of joy arrived.

Ever since the announcement was made that they were expecting, the couple has done nothing but share all the precious moments of Peta’s pregnancy. The couple has posted various activities, including parenting classes, baby bump watches, and, most recently, their New York baby shower, which they had back in December.
Peta Murgatroyd isn’t the only one who will be taking a leave to take care of little Shai. Maks has also told PEOPLE that he was looking forward to taking some leave to spend time with his growing family.
He stated, “I come from a dirt broke family. I just started to be able to afford things in 2005 when [DWTS] started. For me to be able to take time off in this way … [to enjoy] what we have to enjoy and be proud of, that’s anybody’s dream.”
Maksim and Peta are both of Dancing With The Stars fame as pro dancers. Maksim was on 15 seasons of the hit ABC competition show and won his first mirror ball trophy in season 18 with Olympic ice skater Meryl Davis. Peta was on Dancing with the Stars for nine seasons and won the mirrorball trophy twice — once with Donald Driver and then Nyle Dimarco.
Neither one will be returning to the show anytime soon. Chmerkovskiy added, “I’m doing exactly what I set out to do. That’s why I worked my butt off.”
