I’ve accepted Donald Trump as President of the United States. However, I haven’t accepted the next four years. I’m still in shock. So much is up in the air. What will happen to undocumented immigrants? What will happen to people of color? What will happen to women? What will happen to people in poverty? What will happen to Muslims? Nobody wants to assume the worst. How can they assume the best, though?
There’s a bully in the White House. He’s big. He’s mean. He’s rich. What’s the scariest part? Trump’s just a figurehead while the people with real power manipulate his strings.
During a time of serious depravity, individuals need relief. They need an escape. Television has never been more in demand.
Instead of tuning into Fox News or MSNBC, people are tuning into NBC’s SNL. On Saturdays at 11:30pm, Alec Baldwin, Leslie Jones, and guest stars give Americans what they really voted for: security.
Sometimes, comedy is just what the doctor prescribed. Just before Super Bowl LI, Kristen Stewart joined forces with the SNL cast. Of course, Trump had to make an appearance (in more ways than one).
According to the Huffington Post, Trump was obsessed with Kristen Stewart’s ex, Robert Pattinson. “He was mad at me a couple years ago, really obsessed with me a couple years ago, which is fucking crazy. I can’t even understand it. I literally cannot even understand it. It’s such a far-out concept that I don’t want to believe that actually is happening. It’s insane,” the actress exclaims.
Even though Trump’s a crazy character, I have to disagree with Kristen Stewart. Trump wasn’t the only one focused on her and Robert Pattinson’s relationship. Everybody was focused on their relationship — four years ago.
Now, everybody’s focused on Trump. Whether they like him or not, the politician will be inside Americans’ homes for the next four years. There is a silver lining, though. As long as Trump appears on television screens, so will his doppelganger: Alec Baldwin.
