Tom Hardy Reading A Bedtime Story With His Dog Captivates The Internet

Tom Hardy is known for his tough guy roles.

That’s not to take away from the fact that he is a versatile actor of both stage and screen. After all, he has done plenty of dramatic roles before. But let’s face it: when we think of Tom Hardy, our mind lingers to his gruff and imposing persona.

So it is always a treat whenever he shows his sweet side — especially when he is accompanied by a dog.

So when Tom Hardy returned for the second time on the BBC children’s television station, CBeebies to read the bedtime story, The Cloudspotter by Tom McLaughlin, the internet totally lost its mind.

“Cloud spotting with a best friend is definitely more enjoyable,” the actor said in the promotional clip for the event. “Especially if your best friend is a dog,” he added, as the camera panned down to his dog Woody.

Now I know he said the next line with innocence, but when he uttered, “And I’ve spotted you’re not in your bed yet. Quick, go on, get yourself tucked up, and I’ll see you soon,” he probably had more mothers waiting in front of their TV screens than kids. It, of course, didn’t help that it aired on Valentine’s day. Husbands in the UK probably wondered why their wives were scurrying to watch a bedtime story instead of being preoccupied with the holiday.

And the effects of it were felt all over social media, as people posted their appreciation.

One tweeter even made it clear that the bedtime story will be for her and not for her kids as she posted, “All 3 kids in bed. Early vino. Cheers!”. She even added a GIF of Tom Hardy as Mad Max.

And it’s not just mothers who were flustered — even women without kids were tuning in.

His charms were also not limited to women, as some men even tuned in — with an added request that he read it like his Taboo character, James Delaney.

Sadly, though, this was not aired outside of the UK. But, by the reactions, surely the BBC will make this available everywhere … right?
