It seems that the X-Men movies are ignoring the advice that the best things come in threes because we might be getting a new film sooner than later! The trilogy format has worked for sprawling epics the likes of Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, and, until now, our mutant movies have come in triplicate, too.
Judging by a recent post by James McAvoy — known as the younger version of Professor X (Charles Xavier) in the films X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse — it sounds like our favorite mutants will be back filming as soon as Summer 2017!
Of course, they could have another project to work on this year. He could be faking us all out and just has plans to hang out with Simon Kinberg a lot over the summer holidays! Regardless, I choose to believe that a new X-film is headed our way.
The only thing left for fans to do is to speculate on what it might be about. We DO know that an X-Force movie is meant to be in the works … but it has also been ‘in the works’ for more than three years already. The success of Deadpool gives us an opportunity to delve into the team of mutant misfits, though it’s surprising that we haven’t heard anything new about those plans in the year since its release!
What are you hoping to see in the next X-Men film? I just have one real request: could it please be better than X-Men: Apocalypse?
