‘King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword’ Final Trailer Talk

The final trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword dropped this week, and it certainly looks to be an action-packed medieval escapade!

The final trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword dropped this week, and it certainly looks to be an action-packed medieval escapade! The latest version of King Arthur is coming this summer, and this time it’s being helmed by Guy Ritchie, the director of the Sherlock Holmes (2009, 2011) films and Snatch (2000). Ritchie most recently directed the ho-hum Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015).

While the title sounds a little bland and by the book, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword has continually improved upon each commercial since its debut trailer release at last summer’s Comic-Con, with its unique take on the classic tale. However, some might be thrown off by an oddly placed Led Zeppelin song that begins forty seconds into this particular preview and plays through to the end. Of course, this could be letting audiences know that Guy Ritchie’s approach to King Arthur might just feel out of place as well, but in an engaging way. It will star Charlie Hunnam in the title role (Crimson Peak, The Lost City of Z), along with Katie McGrath, Hermione Corfield, Djimon Hounsou, Eric Bana, and Jude Law (who previously worked with Ritchie as Dr. Watson in the aforementioned Sherlock Holmes movies), who looks here to be an especially menacing antagonist.

While we have seen many incarnations of the King Arthur character, the last big-budget and wide release of a film about him was released over ten years ago with Antoine Fuqua and Jerry Bruckheimer’s King Arthur (2004), so it has been awhile since we have seen this character and the land of castles and dragons on-screen.

Guy Ritchie in also in talks to direct the planned live-action adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin, though we do not yet know the release date. Hopefully after that Guy Ritchie can finally direct Sherlock Holmes 3. Anybody with me?

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword gallops into theatres May 12th, 2017.
