Watch Ed Sheeran Perform ‘Shape Of You’ On Classroom Instruments

Ed Sheeran teams up with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots to cover his hit single ‘Shape of You’ in this installment of ‘Classroom Instruments.”

Just when you thought Ed Sheeran couldn’t get more adorable, he does something like perform his hit single “Shape of You” while playing child-sized instruments!

Joining the ranks of artists like Adele, Metallica, and Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran teamed up with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots to perform a grade-school rendition of the artist’s newest single in this Fallon’s newest installment of “Classroom Instruments.”

In addition to Sheeran’s handy handheld maraca, Fallon and the Roots layered in the rest of the song sound using basic music room instruments such as xylophones, ukuleles, tambourines, and kazoos. Missing from the supplies was Sheeran’s trusty loop-petal, but fans would hardly notice. Despite the song’s sultry tune and message, the elementary instruments didn’t take away from the song’s catchy appeal.

Although Sheeran shined with his perpetually wonderful vocals, hot on his heels was Fallon, who busied himself switching between blocks, drums and a number of other instruments, later joining Sheeran with solid vocals of his own, with the Roots singing background. Altogether, created a sound which rivaled the original track.

This late night visit comes ahead of the the release of Sheeran’s third album, ÷ (pronounced Divide). “Shape Of You,” which has lead the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks straight, is one of two singles released by Sheeran on at the start of the year. His other single, “Castle On Hill,” tells the story of Sheeran’s childhood in Suffolk. Other songs released from the album include a romantic ballad called “How Would You Feel” and the newly released, “Eraser,” during which Sheeran speaks about his childhood and the struggles of fame.

Sheeran’s new album, ÷, is set to hit stores on March 3 but is available for pre-order now.
