HBO revealed the date of the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere in a Facebook Live stream. The stream consisted of the air date obscured in a giant block of ice that was being slowly melted by fire. Get it? Game of Thrones is A Song of Ice and Fire. The reveal was perfectly Game of Thrones in the way that it was utterly agonizing for fans. Nothing George R.R. Martin and the Game of Thrones creators love more than torturing their audience (remember the red wedding?). We are a little bit nicer at PopWrapped, so we won’t make you read any longer. Game of Thrones season 7 will premiere on July 16th.
Fans could participate in the live stream by commenting “FIRE” or “DRACARYS” to blast fire at the block of ice. You can watch the last 17 minutes of the stream below.
A short teaser was released after the date announcement of the house sigils narrated by quotes from the show. The post stated “The great war is here.” Sounds like fans can expect a lot of action in season 7.
How pumped are you for the second last season of Game of Thrones? Personally, July 16th can’t come soon enough!
