‘The New York Times’ Puts Trump’s Money to His Mouth

Trump loves to bash ‘The New York Times,’ and he’s always called the newspaper “failing.” However, who’s in worse shape: the Times or Trump?

Donald Trump’s posted several tweets about the “failing” The New York Times, a newspaper that’s been an American staple since 1851. While the Times has written articles aplenty about the president, it’s kept relatively quiet about Trump’s claims of a nosedive. Is the paper ashamed of the truth, or is Trump ashamed of the truth?

According to CNN, the paper’s doing really well. “Shares of New York Times Co. are up 30% since he was elected president. The company’s stock is also up nearly 9% this year,” the article states. The Times is performing better than other companies, but the outlet’s also lacked in other areas, too. Since people can read news with one click of a button, they can spend their money on other things. “Shares of the Times are trading at about two-thirds the price they were before the tech bubble burst in 2000,” the article relays.

However, the paper’s still in business. The Times may be unable to match technology’s growth, but people are acknowledging the outlet’s influence. “The New York Times won three Pulitzer Prizes. The Times won for breaking news photography, feature writing and international reporting. The Times also won for international reporting for a series on Russia’s superstitious assertion of power,” the article states.

How has Trump responded?

He’s been active on Twitter, but he mentioned anything but The New York Times, not to mention the wins of other national outlets. Hopefully, he’s worried more about the oh-so vague entails of his presidential duties versus the paltry subsistence of “fake news.” He already has so much to do, anyway. He has to worry about what matters most, like the Syrian Civil War, Kim Jong-un, and healthcare reformation.

Trump has a lot to shoulder, but he’s in luck.

He’ll have The New York Times (reporting) by his side.
