Fear The Walking Dead Renewed For Fourth Season

With more than a month until its season 3 premiere, AMC has renewed Fear The Walking Dead for a fourth season.

There are still two months before its premiere, but fans of Fear The Walking Dead were greeted with some amazing news Friday afrternoon. The show, which premieres with season 3 on June 4, has just been renewed for a fourth season.

News of the renewal doesn’t come as a big surprise.  While not drawing in the same audience as its sister-series, FearTWD has continuously performed well for AMC, averaging 5.3 million viewers per episode during season 2 and earning a spot as one of the top series on cable TV. While season 4 has been given the greenlight, there is no premiere date yet and it has not been specified how many episodes the season will contain, although it’s safe to assume that it will run the normal course of 15-16 episodes.

The show won’t be coming back completely the same, however. Original co-creator Dave Ericson is leaving the series, the announcement of his departure coming weeks prior to the season four renewal, AMC bringing onboard Once Upon a Time alums Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg. Scott M. Gimple, the current showrunner of The Walking Dead, will also be joining the ranks as executive producer.

“We’re very excited to continue the journey of Fear the Walking Dead, and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott Gimple,” Joel Stillerman, AMC and SundanceTV president of programing said in a recent statement.

Catch all of the undead madness when Fear The Walking Dead returns to AMC with its third season premiere June 4 at 9 PM ET.
