Zac Efron To Play Charismatic Serial Killer Ted Bundy

Zac Efron is set to tackle his most challenging role by portraying charismatic serial killer, Ted Bundy in an upcoming biopic.

Zac Efron rose to fame playing a teenage golden boy in a musical. And even though he has extended his range over the years by portraying slightly flawed characters, we have not seen him truly test himself with a juicy role that is so far from what we have seen him do.

And now it looks like he may be taking that giant leap, because the former Disney superstar is set to star as the charismatic serial killer Ted Bundy in an upcoming biopic.

And get this, the title of the film is, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. What is even more interesting is that it will be told from the perspective of Bundy’s devoted girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer who initially did not believe that her boyfriend was responsible for the deaths. She would later report him to the police several times, but despite her suspicions she still stayed with him for a long time and even planned to marry him!

The film will be directed by Oscar nominated documentary film maker, Joe Berlinger with a script written by Michael Werwie.  The story is said to portrya Bundy as someone who is chillingly evil but appears to be normal.

Ted Bundy was known for his unusual charm and power over women, which he utilized for his gruesome murders.  Since the film will be seen from Kloepfer’s perspective, that side of him will be front and center. What will make this an acting challenge for Efron is how he will convey that malice and evil when the charismatic facade is the main thing that we will see.

Bundy confessed to 30 murders in seven states from 1974 to 1978. In addition to this he also admitted to commiting rape, burglary and necrophilia!  He decapitated 12 of his victims and even kept their heads as souvenirs.  There is also widespread suspicion that the victim count may be higher. He was executed on 1989 in Florida.
