Foo Fighters Rock Retirement Home In Surprise ‘Run’ Video

Foo Fighters incite a geriatric riot in their music video for brand new single “Run”.

Foo Fighters came back from their hiatus and into…retirement? No, it’s not what it sounds like, so Foo fans can rest assured that there are plenty of good years left in the band. On Thursday, the band released a surprise single, accompanied by a rousing music video. The tune is entitled “Run” and it was directed by none other than frontman Dave Grohl.

In the opening scene of the new video, we see a dejected elderly man slouched in an easy chair in a nursing home. A disgruntled and visibly unstable nurse enters his room to give the man his meal and medication, which he crumbles up and throws away as soon as the nurse leaves the room. He then joins the rest of the retired folks in the home’s chapel for some musical entertainment. As they shuffle in, an ambient, spacious intro leads into a build-up that drives the old man from the opening scene to rise to his feet and scales an altar. The band, also donning the “old age” appearance, kick the song into overdrive. The man, much to the surprise of the other residents, leaps from the peak of the altar, inciting a geriatric mosh pit. As all hell breaks loose, the Foo Fighters continue to fuel the chaotic riot as orderlies try to subdue the seniors unsuccessfully.

Watch how it all unfolds below:

This video is definitely entertaining and the comedic nature of the clip contains a familiar goofiness factor reminiscent of their video for their hit “Learn To Fly” from 1999’s There Is Nothing Left To Lose. “Run” is an amazing, rocking headbanger and that is just what Foo Fighters do best.

While there has been no official announcement regarding a new album, NME has reported that the band is spending this year recording a new album. Foo Fighters are set to kick off a huge festival tour in the UK and Europe this summer. Check out their site for updates, tickets, and to buy “Run” now.
