An In Depth Look Into The Trials Of Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby’s second day of trial means we’re one day closer to a verdict. Is he innocent, or is he guilty of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand?

Bill Cosby’s under pressure to perform

The actor, once lauded for his personas on The Cosby Show and Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, is now on trial for sexual assault. Andrea Constand, along with sixty other women, has accused Cosby of serious crimes. She claimed that he drugged her before raping her. “She told jurors Tuesday that Cosby gave her pills that left her incapacitated as the star sexually assaulted her in January 2004. ‘I was frozen,’ she said,” an NBC News article says. Cosby’s defense team tried their best to find fault within Constand’s story, but she stuck to her truth. However, other people aren’t convinced. Constand kept in contact with Cosby — 72 phone calls — even after the sexual assault occurred.

Her mother also kept in contact

“The prosecution introduced into evidence two calls Cosby’s team made after Constand and her mother confronted him about the encounter in question,” the article continues. He was making lucrative offers to both her and her mother. Between vacations and finances for school, Cosby made his intentions clear; he wanted to gift Constand, and maybe even bribe her into keeping quiet. As NBC News said, he could’ve been exercising “damage control.” Whether he committed any crimes or not, his actions definitely ring alarms, especially since his former employee verified another survivor’s claims of abuse. “William Morris testified that an assistant, Kelly Johnson, complained during a 1996 worker’s compensation case that the comedian had drugged and molested her,” the article continues.

The scenario has been he-said, she-said, but one thing’s crystal clear: The story stinks, and nobody wins.

If Cosby’s convicted, then he put at least one woman through Hell, and, if Cosby’s innocent, then he just lost money, credibility, and support. However, there’s still a silver lining. Regardless of the outcome, justice will be served.
