When Chadwick Boseman (very cryptically) announced on his Instagram last Friday morning that the teaser trailer for Marvel’s much anticipated Black Panther would be released later that day, I’m pretty sure you could actually feel the excitement ripple through the fanbase worldwide. I mean literally. The ground shook, lightning streaked the sky, cats of all shapes and sizes thrust their jubilant claws into the air — yes, that all actually happened.
And then the trailer dropped. And it surpassed any and all expectations.
Watch the Black Panther Teaser for yourself:
Where does one even begin? First of all, this cast. The movie is just busting at the seams with talent; this is no exaggeration. Just check out this list of names: Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Sterling K. Brown, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker. This cast is no joke.
And then of course there’s the man himself. We first met Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War last year, and he instantly became a fan favorite. He stepped up to a tall order, playing a brand new superhero in the midst of so many we already know and love and just about stole the show. His performance as the Wakandan king single-handedly caused interest in the Black Panther solo movie to skyrocket.
Also, from this trailer alone, the movie looks like it will be an absolute treat to both the eyes and the ears, with incredible visuals backed up by a kickass soundtrack, which is honestly my favorite formula when it comes to comic book flicks.
Twitter is ready for Black Panther
The anticipation for Black Panther has been higher, I think, than any other Marvel movie preceding it, and it’s safe to say that this teaser trailer has only heightened people’s excitement even more, if the Twitterverse is any indication:
