Get Ready For A John Wick TV Series

Love John Wick? The unique world of assassins is getting a makeover for the small screen in the form of The Continental, a shared universe TV series!

One thing that made John Wick stand out from other action flicks was the unique world it created as a backdrop. John Wick doesn’t simply take place in the world as we know it, but in a wide, secret world inhabited by assassins who have their own hotels, currency, and codes of conduct. And now that world is heading towards the small screen.

Before the second John Wick film was even released, the creators were already in talks to create a TV show. Co-director Chad Stahelski and writer Derek Kolstad are still developing The Continental for Lionsgate. In the series, The Continental is the name of the special hotel chain for assassins. They check in and out based on job locations, but no killings are allowed to occur on Continental grounds.

The show itself would focus on various assassins all across the globe, and may even feature a Keanu Reeves cameo, though obviously the Hollywood star would not be the lead role.

According to Stahelski, “They’ve got a really good structure. It’s very tied to the film [in that] it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool. I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive…. It’s something that studio seems very, very intent on [making] and very, very behind.”

While we know John Wick himself, the creators are looking forward to diving into the lives of different assassins, saying that they enjoy the storytelling potential.

“You can be with all these different characters and walk through the world in different aspects; ones that I’m a little limited [from exploring] by staying with my lead guy,” Stahelski said, highlighting the benefits of moving away from Wick.

No release date has been set yet, but if this series is anything like the films, we’ll definitely be on the lookout!
