In another step this week toward total world domination, Amazon has announced its newest venture: Prime Wardrobe. Amazon Prime members will be able to select at least three clothing, shoe, and/or accessory items to try on at home. After the items arrive, members will get a week to decide what to keep or what to return.
What Is Prime Wardrobe?
Prime Wardrobe will include extra savings for customers, depending on the number of items they decide to buy. Keeping three or four items will get you 10% off, while hanging on to five or more unlocks a 20% savings. Shipping and returns are free.
According to Amazon’s announcement, the ease of trying things on at home and taking some time to make up your mind are the key benefits of this new program: “Prime Wardrobe is a new service that brings the fitting room to you, so you can try the latest styles and find your perfect fit before you buy.”
When Will Prime Wardrobe Be Available?
Though Prime Wardrobe is currently in its beta testing phase and no launch date has yet been specified, those interested in learning more can sign up for updates on Amazon’s announcement page. More than a million items will be available for use with Prime Wardrobe, including from labels like Lacoste, Calvin Klein, Milly, J Brand, Theory, Timex, and many more.
For those hard core online shoppers who enjoy skipping the hassles and stress of shopping (here’s looking at me), Prime Wardrobe is an enticing addition to Amazon’s offerings. Still, sometimes a stroll through the mall with a big, salty pretzel and a Coke ICEE isn’t a bad way to spend an afternoon.
