Actress Serinda Swan (Inhumans, Ballers) is jumping out of a plane on August 19 to raise money for Project Rescue 18for18, which works to end sex trafficking and support victims. 100% of the proceeds will be donated equally among Together 1 Heart, New Light, and Maiti Nepal.

What is 18for18?

Swan started Project Rescue 18for18 in 2012 following a trip to Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand where she met with sex trafficking victims and knew she needed to do something to help. Her initial goal was to raise $18,000 by skydiving 18,000 feet. Her efforts have now grown into an annual fundraiser that has raised over $600,000 with all of the proceeds supporting anti-sex trafficking.

This year, a 150-mile charity motorcycle ride is happening before the jump in partnership with Hudson Jeans Founder and Co-Partner of Powerplant Motorcycles, Peter Kim. The goal is for the team to raise $100,000 with the ride and dive.

Not only is sex trafficking the fast growing criminal enterprise, it is the second largest. On average, 1.2 million women and children are sold each year. The average age of a girl sold into sex trafficking is 13, and some are as young as 2 years old.

  • $10 can provide a month of medicine for an infant below the age of 2yrs
  • $25 can provide food and accommodation for a week for a victim of human trafficking with HIV or AIDS
  • $150 is enough to cover all the expenses for an outreach team to get to a survivor of human trafficking plus hygiene materials for a month
  • $50,000 can cover an entire year of rescues for one organization

How can you donate to 18for18?

You can donate on the Project Rescue 18for18 crowdrise page. Every dollar helps and donations are tax deductable! As an added incentive, Swan will be randomly selecting the names of three people that donate and sending them personalized videos.
