Party Of Five Will Be Rebooted As A TV Series About Immigrant Siblings

‘Party Of Five’ is getting a reboot for television, but it’ll be about five Latino immigrant siblings trying to survive in the United States.

Iconic 90’s TV series, Party Of Five is going to be rebooted for television, and it is getting a Latino immigrant twist!

Series creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman are in the early stages of preparation and currently there are no networks that are attached to the project.

What was Party Of Five about, exactly?

The original series focused on the lives of five siblings whose lives are turned upside down when their parents died in a car crash. Oldest brother Charlie Salinger (Matthew Fox) who was 24 when the series began had to stop his plans to reenter University to act as guardian to his younger siblings, 16 year old Bailey (Scott Wolf) , 15 year old Julia (Neve Campbell), 11 year old Claudia (Lacey Chabert) and 1 year old Owen who was played by several actors through the series’ five seasons. Charlie also takes over the family business, a restaurant called Salinger’s to keep the family financially afloat.

The reboot will retain the storyline of five siblings who will be struggling to survive without parents. But it’ll be about a first generation Latino family who immigrated to the United States. The reason as to why the parents are absent in their children’s lives is being kept under wraps.

How will this new version change? We can only guess.

This story will be timely in light of the current political situation in the United States when it comes to immigration. It’ll be also interesting to see how each of the characters will be changed to suit their background and what part of them will be retained from the original.

Will the family still have a restaurant? Is Lacey’s counterpart gonna be a gifted violinist?

It is safe to assume that with there being already a huge immigrant twist, that Keyser and Lippman may try to retain as much of the original’s flavor so as not to alienate fans of the original, otherwise it’ll be just Party Of Five in name only.

The series helped launch the careers of several prominent stars. Aside from the main siblings, there was Jennifer Love Hewitt and Scott Grimes, with the former playing Bailey’s girlfriend Sarah Reeves Merrin and the latter playing his best friend Will McCorkle.

There is no word yet on whether some of these original stars will make an appearance in the series. But of course fans will hope that they do.

Do you think the twist is a good change? Or is it too much a departure from the original?
