Arrested in 2007 and charged with armed robbery in the same year, football player O.J. Simpson served hard time in a Nevada prison for a decade.
With years of his life spent behind bars, he plans on spending quality time with family and friends…and possibly a filet mignon. “Simpson is looking forward to reuniting with his family, eating a steak and some seafood and moving back to Florida, his lawyer said,” according to a Fox News article. As he adjusts to a quiet life, he also familiarizes himself with the rapid progression of technological advancements, like Apple’s iPhone.

But his freedom remains tethered to the courts.
O.J. Simpson’s out on parole and in charge of his own fate
For the next five years, he’ll be closely monitored by both the public and parole. However, he could successfully complete parole in a shorter amount of time. “His five years of parole supervision could be reduced with credits for good behavior,” the article states. His fate rests in his own hands. After a jury found him not guilty of his wife and her friend’s murders in 1994, Simpson spiraled down a dark and dwindling tunnel.
He never truly recovered from the highly publicized trial. The gifted athlete’s reality came crashing down 10 years ago, when he entangled himself in “a botched hotel-room heist in Las Vegas that brought the conviction and prison time he avoided in the killings of his wife and her friend after his 1995 acquittal.” A judge sentenced him to 33 years with a minimum of nine completed before his possibility of parole could be considered. Even though he served time for his crime, people seem wary about his release. Attorney General Pam Bondi voices her concerns.
“The specter of his residing in comfort in Florida should not be an option. Our state should not become a country club for this convicted criminal,” she says.
