This Thanksgiving, a group of celebrities that First Daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump follow on Instagram are using their social media platform to urge her to support a clean Dream Act for immigrants who were brought into the United States when they were minors.
In September, Ivanka’s father, President Donald Trump, rescinded the Obama era executive order known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This policy protects undocumented immigrants brought into the United States when they were children, and allows them to work freely and study within the country without the fear of deportation. The program is set to expire six months after September, and will put an estimated 800,000 people in danger of being deported from the United States.
However President Trump did call on Congress to pass a Dream Act that will make this protections into law instead of relying on an executive order that any future President can rescind. He also hinted that he may “revisit this issue” if the legislature fails to pass a law.
Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can’t, I will revisit this issue!

A clean Dream act is precisely what the group of celebrities wanted. Founder of online shopping site Nasty Gal, Sophia Amoruso got the ball rolling when she posted an image of a message to Ivanka.
It reads “Dear Ivanka, “I see you’re following me on Instagram. This Thanksgiving I would be grateful if you use the influence you have to advocate for a CLEAN Dream Act by December. Every day that passes without a clean Dream Act means anxiety and deportation for immigrant youth. 7,901 youth have already lost DACA and 122 more will use it each day. Thank you and Happy Holidays.”
Happy Thanksgiving, Ivanka ???? #cleandreamact

Actresses Olivia Wilde and Sophia Bush also chimed in.
While it is understandable that Ivanka may choose not to publicly contradict her father on issues because of the simple human reason that she loves him. This is not really anywhere near defying him, President Trump did urge congress to act and hinted at revisiting the issue, so what is stopping her?
Come on Ivanka, support the Dreamers.
