The Shannara Chronicles captured our hearts and imaginations with its dystopian fantasy. Based on the novels by Terry Brooks, this show was set so far into the future that civilization as we know it crumbled, and magic was reborn.
Sadly, The Shannara Chronicles will not live to see a third season.
In Season One, the last Shannara, Wil Ohmsford (Austin Butler), is a half elf who does not fit in with humans or elves. He can weild magic and wants to be a Healer, helping people who become injured and sick. He is thrust into a destiny he never asked for, joining elven Princess Amberle (Poppy Drayton) and Eretria (Ivana Baquero) on a quest to restore the Ellcrys tree when it begin to die.
With the help of the last druid Allanon (Manu Bennett) the three friends brave the Four Lands, which are rife with demons, warlocks, and human rogues.
Season 2 opened with Will trying his hand at a normal life as a Healer. He has put magic (mostly) behind him and wants to live in peace. Unfortunately, new threats are emerging across the Four Lands, and his status as the last Shannara cannot be ignored.
According to Deadline, Season 2 wrapped up filming in November 2017. The show originally aired on MTV during its debut but switched to Spike for Season 2. While sources say producer Sonar Entertainment "is shopping…elsewhere," we cannot hold our breath for Season 3.
The Shannara Chronicles was created by Al Gough and Miles Millar and executive produced by Jon Favreau, Jonathan Liebesman, and Dan Farah. The show was filmed on location in New Zealand.
